New deployments planned for Sweden and Copenhagen highlight the Nordic region’s role in European AI infrastructure—and the importance of preparing data centres for demanding workloads.
On 13 October 2026, European cloud provider Scaleway announced plans for an AI supercomputer in Sweden using AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs. The deployment will expand access to computing capacity for European startups, AI companies and enterprises, and marks Scaleway’s first supercomputer deployment outside France.
The company also announced plans for a new GPU Zone in Copenhagen powered by NVIDIA HGX B300 systems. According to Scaleway, the Danish deployment will address demand for European-controlled AI computing capacity and bring infrastructure closer to customers across Northern Europe.
Turning investment into operational capacity
These announcements provide a timely opportunity to consider the infrastructure behind AI services. For data centre owners and developers, accommodating advanced computing requires careful coordination between IT requirements, electrical infrastructure, cooling and operational procedures.
From a technical planning perspective, key priorities include:
Power availability: Confirming capacity, connection timelines and a practical route for expansion.
Cooling readiness: Matching cooling systems to the selected hardware and its operating requirements.
Resilience: Assessing how critical systems perform during faults and maintenance.
Operational readiness: Preparing teams, documentation and procedures before new capacity enters service.
These are general planning considerations for AI infrastructure, rather than an assessment of Scaleway’s announced projects.
Planning for the full operating lifecycle
Early technical assessments help establish whether a proposed facility can support its intended workloads and where further investment may be required. They also provide a stronger basis for procurement, testing and long-term operations.
DLE Consulting supports data centre projects through technical advisory, risk assessment, quality assurance, energy optimisation and reviews of operations and maintenance routines.
